Voice Lessons
Nine Muses Studio teaches a variety of styles, including classical, musical theater, jazz, and various contemporary genres. Located in South Austin, Nine Muses directs students on a path to becoming better musicians. Instruction includes vocal techniques, breath support, musicality, music theory, vocal pedagogy, sight reading, and performance techniques. Recitals throughout the year offer a chance for each student to practice performing for an audience and also provide an opportunity for family and friends to celebrate their progress.
Lessons at Nine Muses focus on the best techniques for each individual voice. Every singer is different and the curriculum for each student will take advantage of that. A well-trained singer should be able to sing any genre or style of music without discomfort. Learning healthy vocal techniques is the only way for a singer to perform various styles and continue singing for life.
Voice instructor Kylah Magee started her private studio in an effort to teach what she believed was missing from her early days of voice training: a thorough knowledge of music and the confidence to try anything.
Whether your favorite genre is rock, jazz or musical theater, every good musician should be familiar with all the styles that came before. All music is interconnected - that's what makes it so amazing! In addition to that, having a general knowledge of music theory will help any musician advance. Understanding the theory behind music is a valuable skill.
Confidence in singing comes from learning the intricacies of your own voice: how it works, how to use it, how to control it, and knowing how to fix things that may go wrong. Once a technique is learned, a singer begins to truly understand their voice and what they're capable of. Once they have control, they have confidence. Once they have confidence they're ready for that solo, ready for that audition, and ready for that big performance in front of hundreds of people.
