A singer/songwriter from the UK, Phildel uses sleek vocals to create a sound that's stirred from her uninhibited imagination. The album The Disappearance of the Girl releases today on iTunes and is getting some play on BBC radio. I highly recommend the tracks Storm Song and Moonsea, which you can hear clips of on SoundCloud. Don't miss this up and coming artist who's fantastical stories come alive in her music.
From Iceland there's the post rock group Sigur Rós who've been making music for almost twenty years now. If you've never heard of them, you've definitely heard their songs, featured in film and television since the late 90s. I'm a few months behind, but viewing their video for Valtari last week has brought me back to them. I love how dreamlike their music is with rare instrumentation and angelic vocals. The band will be touring North America later this month and will be in Austin in April!
I tend to choose music to fit my mood and these two artists have helped ease my currently overwhelmed mind. They are also inspiring, creating within me a need to get into my studio and practice.
